Young marble giants
I finally bought the Colossal Youth Cd for £2.99 in an Oxfam shop yesterday. Having heard so much about it I expected it to sound a lot like Broadcast. It does in parts, but you can also see where Nirvana and The Kills nicked a few ideas from. There's even a track on it called Wurlitzer jukebox. I'm surprised they haven't been mentioned here before. I you like Broadcast, but want something a little different then check this out. And to think it was made in 1979!

Re: Young marble giants
Funny you mention it...in fact I have at some time mentioned the YMGs in this forum, when we discussed where Trish's way of singing may have come from. May have been years ago. I also pointed out the Wurlitzer Jukebox similarity then. (my nick was Skeltzer then - had to change that when I lost both my password and the e-mail address).

Re: Young marble giants
I had never heard this cd until about two weeks ago, and it quickly has become one of the best things I've heard. They really have a beautiful aesthetic.

Re: Young marble giants
alison statton is the singer with YMG - she went onto form "weekend" who were slightly jazzy at times, but still very very good.
worth looking out for!
